2019 Festival Submissions
MWFF 2019: DARK DELIGHTS
We welcome submissions of any genre, style or theme from women working within all areas of the Australian screen industry. As part of our 2019 festival, we are especially keen on submissions that match our programming theme: Dark Delights. Gothic, weird, transgressive or noir, we are looking to program women’s films that revel in the darker side of life.
To be eligible, all films must have a woman-identified person in a key creative role (Producer, Director, Writer, Cinematographer, Editor, or Sound Designer/Composer) and have a clear connection to Australia. Priority will be given to creative teams of Australian women.
MWFF is committed to celebrating and promoting diversity in the Australian screen industry. We strongly encourage submissions from Indigenous women, women of colour, and LGBTIQ-identified women.
Awards and prizes
The short film programs are eligible for the following awards decided by an industry jury:
- Best Short
- Best Next Gen Short

There will also be an audience award for the short film program.
Prizes will be announced soon and will be in the area of future production assistance. Last year's prizes included $10,000 post production services at Soundfirm Post Production (Best Short) and $1,000 voucher from Lemac Film & Digital (Best Next Gen Short).
