This year's Melbourne Women in Film Festival theme is focused on 'environments' - natural, social, and cultural. In commissioning Ngemba and Wiradjuri artists, Bindi Bindi Art, for the artwork featured in our program, we discussed with the artists the festival theme, highlighting our curatorial focus to showcase Australian, Aotearoan and Pasifika filmmakers and stories throughout our programming, and the festival's ambition to be a place of community, connection, and inclusion through the power of storytelling. Below is the artists’ statement and break down of the artwork’s symbols.
