EMU RUNNER

Presented with ACMI Education as part of their focus on women filmmakers series

Tuesday April 1st, 10am, ACMI
Imogen Thomas, Australia, 2018, PG, Free

Join us for a special free screening of Emu Runner as part of ACMI’s Focus on Australian women filmmakers series.

Emu Runner was crafted collaboratively by Imogen Thomas and the Brewarrina community, and is a testament to what can be achieved on a very low budget and lots of good will.

Emu Runner tells the story of Gem, a Ngemba girl, who bonds with an emu as a way of coping with the sudden and devastating death of her mother and the subsequent issues she and her family faces. It is a film about the resilience and strength of Gem, her family and community, despite terrible loss and hardship.

Session includes film and short introduction.
